A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was arrested today in Kashmir's Kupwara district, army said and claimed to have recovered an AK rifle, a pistol and other "war-like" stores after his apprehension.

"Army has apprehended one LeT terrorist from Drushpura forests, Handwara," Srinagar-based defence spokesman Lt Col N N Joshi said here.

He was identified as Bilal Ahmed Nazar, the spokesman said, adding one 9 mm pistol was recovered from his possession at the time of his arrest.

Nazar then led the army to recovery of one AK-47 and other "war-like" stores, Joshi said.

He said the militant was apprehended by an army team in a forest area when he was found moving in suspicious circumstances.

The militant has been handed over to the Police Station Handwara for further investigation, Joshi said.
