A man was awarded life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 by a local court today for the rape and murder of a mentally-challenged woman a year ago.
Additional District and Sessions judge R K Srivastava passed the order on Ravi Kumar after finding him guilty of the crime.
Kumar and his three accomplices Mukesh Singh, Shishupal Singh and Bhaskar Singh had raped the woman before murdering her at Shitalpur village under Mufassil police station area on July 4, 2012.
While the trial of Bhaskar Singh is still on, the other two are absconding.
