Lioness dies in Bannerghatta biological park

A 25-year-old lioness has died due to multi-organ failure at the Bannerghatta Biological Park here, authorities said today.

The lioness had a history of rectal prolapse and was treated for it in January. It developed the same problem yesterday and died during treatment, the BBP said.

The post-mortem revealed that death was due to multiple growth in the lungs and multi-organ failure, a BBP release said.

The lioness was brought to Bengaluru from Sangli zoo in Maharashtra in July 2001.
