Lok Sabha MP adopts village under PM's 'SAGY'

AINRC Lok Sabha MP from Puducherry, R Radhakrishnan has taken up for adoption the remote village of Karayambuthur under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Sansad Adarsh Gramin Yojana (SAGY).

A first timer in Lok Sabha, Radhakrishnan kickstarted works today for developmental works in the village, situated some 40 kms away from the town.

Addressing a meeting on the occasion, he said the "village adoption scheme" envisages making available basic amenities, improvement of infratructures, alleviation of poverty and ensuring full fledged facilities in schools to augment academic environment for rural children.

"The scheme would ensure transformation of the village into a model village by implementing various Central and State government schemes", he said, asking the people to extend full cooperation for successful implementation of the programme.
 

Puducherry Union Territory has one seat each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
