Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today said local factors work in civic polls and not any "wave".
"No wave works in civic polls. These elections are fought and won on local issues. Candidates' public contact and work counts," said Mahajan, speaking to reporters in her hometown here after casting vote in civic elections.
Mahajan said she came here specifically for casting her vote, and appealed the people to exercise their franchise.
"Everybody should vote. Democracy will become stronger when there is 100 per cent voting in the country," she said.
