Lupita Nyong'o, Julianne Moore land Power of Women honours

Lupita Nyong'o and Julianne Moore will be among the philanthropic honourees at Power of Women: New York celebration.

The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" beauty will be applauded for her efforts with Mother Health International, while Moore is known for her campaign work with Everytown for Gun Safety, which calls for gun control reform in the US.

The Oscar winners will be feted as Lifetime Impact Honorees alongside ballet star Misty Copeland, fashion designer Vera Wang, and US newswoman Megyn Kelly at the Variety celebration, which recognises the entertainment industry's most inspiring and charitable females

"We are honoured to provide a platform that celebrates the outstanding women in entertainment who support and promote philanthropic causes making the world a better place to live," Michelle Sobrino Stearns, Group Publisher of Variety, said in a statement.
 

"Variety's Power of Women NY is now in its third year in the city and we are excited that once again Lifetime will be joining Variety to fete those individuals who inspire us all to go beyond ourselves.
