The Mahagenco Ash Management Services Ltd (Mahagams) will be able save upto Rs 2,000 crore on ash transportation and will be creating employment opportunities for about 10,000 persons, Maharashtra Minister for Energy Chandrashekhar Bawankule said here today.

Inaugurating regional office of Mahagams, Bawankule said the state government had created this new company which will facilitate use of ash produced by thermal plants in making bricks, roads and also in filling the mines.

An industrial cluster will be developed around the thermal power plants and proper utilisation of ash will be given a priority.

His Ministry would soon organise an investor meet in Mumbai to attract investments in production of ash byproducts such as bricks and there would be 100 percent utilisation of ash in near future, he said.
