Maize, bajra strengthen on buying by stockists

Prices of maize and bajra strengthened up to Rs 40 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today on increased stockists buying against limited arrivals from producing regions.

However, other grains like wheat and rice basmati held steady in scattered deals.

Traders said buying by stockists against limited arrivals from producing regions led to rise in maize and bajra prices.

In the national capital, maize and bajra moved up by Rs 40 and Rs 10 to Rs 1,475-1,485 and Rs 1,280-1,285 per quintal, respectively.

The following are today's quotations per quintal:

Wheat MP (deshi) 2,070-2,270, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,630-1,635, Chakki atta (delivery) 1,635-1,640 Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill 870-880 (50 kg), Maida 960-970 (50 kg) and Sooji 1,020-1,040 (50kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal 10,000, Super Basmati Rice, 9,500, Basmati common new 8,600-9,000, Rice Pusa-(1121) new 7,650-9,400, Permal raw 2,150-2,250, Permal wand 2,250-2,300, Sela 2,800-2,900 and Rice IR-8- 1,850-1,900, Bajra 1,280-1,285, Jowar yellow 1,470-1,500, white 2,275-2,300, Maize 1,475-1,480, Barley 1,450-1,460, Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
