Maize rises on scattered demand

Barring a rise in maize prices on increased demand from retailers, other grains held steady at the wholesale grains market today in the absence of worthwhile activity.

Traders said apart from some demand from retailers, restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in maize prices.

In the national capital, maize prices edged up by Rs 10 to Rs 1,470-1,475 per quintal.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal):

Wheat MP (deshi) Rs 2,270-2,670, Wheat dara (for mills) Rs 1,670-1,675, Chakki atta (delivery) Rs 1,680-1,685, Atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 220, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 220, Roller flour mill Rs 850-860 (50 kg), Maida Rs 940-950 (50 kg) and Sooji Rs 1,020-1,030 (50 kg).
 

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 10,400, Shri Lal Mahal Rs 10,000, Super Basmati Rice Rs 9,500, Basmati common new Rs 5,000-5,500, Rice Pusa (1121) RS 4,000-5,100, Permal raw Rs 1,700-1,775, Permal wand Rs 1,850-1,900, Sela Rs 2,350-2,400 and Rice IR-8 Rs 1,575-1,600, Bajra Rs 1,150-1,155, Jowar yellow Rs 1,490-1,500, white Rs 2,550-2,650, Maize Rs 1,470-1,475, Barley Rs 1,575-1,580.
