West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today celebrated 'Rathyatra' festival by inaugurating the Iskcon chariot at Park Circus.
Wishing everybody on the occasion she said "rain and 'papad' are integral parts of the celebration" and prayed to Lord Jagannath for well being of all.
Iskcon priests presented her with some devotional books along with other gifts on the occasion.
The Iskcon Rath commenced the journey after she pulled the Rath ropes as hundreds of people, commoners and Iskon devotees, joined.
Banerjee said she would participate as long as she lived.
On this occasion melas and fairs are organised at several parts of city and people across religion celebrate the festival with joy.
