A man called for questioning in a case allegedly attacked a police officer in Sadar police station here.
The accused, Gulshan, was called for questioning following an FIR was lodged yesterday against him for allegedly thrashing his former wife and threatening to kidnap her child, police said.
Last evening, he reached the police station along with his two brothers and when Assistant Sub Inspector Dharam Singh inquired from him about the complaint, Gulshan got agitated and allegedly tried to strangulate the officer, they said.
However, an advocate, who was present there, caught hold of Gulshan and rescued the ASI.
Police personnel present at the station nabbed Gulshan.
A case was registered against Gulshan under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC, police said.
