A 26-year-old man tried to commit suicide by consuming a poisonous substance after his girlfriend refused to marry him, police said.
The incident took place last evening in Luhari village which comes under the jurisdiction of Charthawal police station, said SHO V S Tiwari.
The man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical.
