A person was allegedly beaten to death by a 'mukhiya' and his supporters at Dhakjari village in Madhubani district, police said.
Benipatti DSP Rajesh Kumar Prabhakar said the incident happened when Tripit Mishra demanded a house under Indira Awas Yojana from mukhiya Santosh Purvey.
"According to the FIR, Purvey demanded Rs 15,000 as bribe at which Mishra entered into an argument with him. As a result, Purvey and his supporters assaulted him with sticks," Prabhakar said.

An injured Mishra was rushed to Benipatti Primary Health Centre, where he died during the treatment.
The mukhiya and his supporters are absconding.
