Man beaten to death by girlfriend's family

Police have arrested the brother of the girl while a case against her seven other relatives had been registered against them, police said here today.

The father of victim youth Lovely Masih, a widower, in his complaint said that Lovely had gone to attend a church at nearby Kalanaur town on the day of crime. Later, some of his relatives informed him that his son had been tied with a tree and some persons were beating him at a Dera in Hardarwal village.

He alleged that when he reached there, his son's body was lying in the pool of blood.

 

DSP Dera Baba Nanak Gurmeet Singh Cheema said Lovely had an affair with a girl here. The relatives of the girl had gone to attend a function. In the meantime, Lovely went to the girl's house where he was caught by her relatives.

They tied him with a tree and allegedly thrashed him up, resulting into his death.
