A local court today sentenced a person to three-and-half years of imprisonment for a rape attempt case.
The court also awarded one year jail term to the accused, Mukesh, for giving life threat to the victim.
Both the jail terms will run concurrently.
According to the prosecution, on July 20, 2011, the girl went to Mukesh's shop at Maniyarsuin-Kund village in Pauri Garhwal for buying a match box. The man asked the girl to come inside the shop and then tried to rape her.
Hearing the girl's cries, her sister and brother rushed to the spot. On seeing them, Mukesh fled from the shop.
