A man here has been arrested for allegedly forcing a Bangladeshi girl into prostitution after bringing her into the country illegally, police said Thursday.
Sarfaraj Khan was arrested Wednesday based on a complaint from the girl, who managed to escape from captivity, Police Inspector G Suresh said.
According to him, Khan had brought the complainant and another girl from Bangaldesh here in October after assuring their parents that he would enroll them in a beautician course in the city.
However, his intention was to use them in prostitution, police said adding the other Bangladeshi girl escaped within two days of arriving here and her whereabouts were not known.
The girl, allegedly forced into prostitution, escaped from his captivity on December 14, approached the local police and lodged a complaint against Khan, police said.
Efforts were on to send the girl back and also to verify about the other girl, they said.
