A man has been arrested at the international airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold valued at about Rs 50 lakh.
The passenger was intercepted yesterday by customs officials after his arrival from Doha here.
"On personal and baggage search, two gold bars weighing 2 kgs and valued at Rs 49.86 lakh were recovered from the passenger," a release issued today by the customs said.
The accused was arrested and the gold seized.
