Man killed as robbers open fire after failed burglary bid

A gang of robbers opened fire after a failed bid to burgle a house in Rajasthan's Bundi district, killing a 25-year-old man, police said today.

According to Talera police station SHO Prushottam Mahriya, about 5-6 members of the gang tried to break into the house in Shivaji Colony in Talera town last night. But the family members woke up and chased the robbers.

A gang member opened fire at the family members while fleeing.

Mohammed Rahim suffered bullet injury in head and was rushed to Maharao Bhim Singh Hospital in Kota, from where he was taken to a private hospital in the city, another police officer said, adding that he died this morning.
 

A case under Section 302 (murder) of IPC has been lodged against unidentified persons.

Efforts were underway to nab the gang members, the SHO said. Bundi Superintendent of Police Yogesh Yadav visited the spot today.
