The Delhi police has arrested a person for allegedly throwing off a man, who was his minor cousin's boyfriend, from a high-rise building in Ghaziabad last year in what is suspected to be a case of honour killing.
The accused, Vikram Joshi, was arrested from Ahmedabad yesterday. He was declared a proclaimed offender by a Dwarka Court here and was carrying a reward of Rs 20,000 on him, DCP (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said.
In April last year, Vishal Verma (22), a tailor by profession, had eloped with a minor girl belonging to a different caste of a village in Rajasthan.

On reaching Delhi, they took refuge in Vishal's sister's home in Uttam Nagar. Vishal's sister informed the girl's parents. On May 2, the girl's father Mukesh Joshi, her uncle Vikram and cousin Avinash reached Uttam Nagar to resolve the issue, the DCP said.
They assured Vishal and his family members that they will allow him to marry the girl once she turns 18. Vishal and his family agreed to this proposal and allowed the girl's family to take them back home, he said.
But instead of taking them to their village, the girl's family members took Vishal to a high-rise building at Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad. There he was mercilessly beaten up and pushed off the building, the officer said.
The Ghaziabad Police registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to Delhi.
Delhi police conducted several raids but could not nab the accused following which they were declared proclaimed offenders by a court in Dwarka. On March 8, a reward of Rs 20,000 was also declared on their arrest.
