A 45-year-old man, who has been on run since the last four months for allegedly attempting to kill his wife and her relative here in Maharashtra, has been arrested from Karnataka, police said Monday.

The accused, Ashok Harijan, was picked up from his native place, Indi, in Karnataka on July 5 on a tip-off, said a senior officer of Kasarvedavli police station.

Harijan had allegedly attacked his wife Shobha (40) and her uncle Dundappa Kattimani (60) with a sickle on February 4 after she refused to accompany him to his house following an altercation.

The trio, all labourers, were staying at a temporary accommodation at a construction site on Ghodbunder Road near Thane at the time of the incident.

Shobha and Kattimani had survived the attack with serious injuries.

Harijan was booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including for attempt to murder, the officer said.
