Man went to complain to Shamli DM, found dead

An elderly man was found dead near the office of District Magistrate's in neighbouring Shamli district, police said today.

A written complaint was recovered from him, written in the name of DM, in which he has alleged that his daughter is being harassed by some youths, police said.

Prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide, police said.

The deceased, identified as Bachan Das, could not meet the DM and committed suicide by consuming poison yesterday, they said.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and two youths, who named in the complain were arrested, they added.
