Post-bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh Police were able to effectively contain the Maoist problem despite facing shortage of manpower and funds, DGP J V Ramudu asserted today.
The State's bifurcation in 2014 had posed new problems for the police force, especially in terms of financial crunch, which led to a delay in recruitment and training. The police academy and other training institutions went to Telangana, he said while talking to reporters here.
Despite heavy odds, the Maoist activities after the bifurcation was contained effectively, he said.
Ramudu, who will retire on July 23, said he is satisfied with his tenure during which police force, with existing resources, skillfully tackled many law and order problems and resolved sensitive issues.
Asked about replacement of police vehicles damaged during the recent Kapu agitation, he said a proposal for their replacement has been submitted to the Government.
Earlier, he inaugurated a police convention hall constructed here at a cost of Rs 1.35 crore.
