Mathura clash: Six people taken into custody

Six people have been taken into custody for their alleged role in the clash between two groups here that claimed the lives of three persons, police said today.

Six suspects were nabbed following raids in the past 24 hours for their role in yesterday's clash at Nausherat village under Govardhan police station area, between two warring factions, Circle Officer Sadar, Anil Kumar Yadav said.

Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and heavy police force have been deployed to prevent anymore clashes in the region, SSP Manzil Saini said.

History-sheeter Shamim, his associates and Mishra gang have been involved in a feud since past 15 years and seven persons had died in previous clashes between the groups, he said.
 

Three persons identified as Mota and Jaffar of Mishra gang and Jaicob of Shamim gang were killed in the attack.

Mishra gang was accused of killing Shamim's brother Taiyab last January.

Police recovered 16 live cartridges from Mota's body.

Several teams have been formed to arrest the criminals, they added.
