Max temperatures drop in Punjab, Haryana following rains

Rains today lashed several parts of Punjab and Haryana, providing relief to people from the scorching heat.

Maximum temperatures dropped by a few notches below the normal in many parts of the states after the rains, a MeT department report said.

Chandigarh recorded a maximum of 35.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees below the normal, and recorded 2.6 mm rainfall, as per the report.

Ambala in Haryana recorded a maximum of 35.2 degrees Celsius, three degrees below the normal, while Hisar and Karnal had a maximum of 39.9 degrees Celsius and 37.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

Narnaul's maximum was 40.5 degrees Celsius.
 

In Punjab, Amritsar's maximum temperature dropped sharply with the city recording 24.7 degrees Celsius, 15 degrees below the normal. It recorded 18 mm of rainfall, the report said.

Maximum temperatures of Ludhiana and Patiala were 31.8 degrees Celsius and 36 degrees Celsius respectively, up to seven notches below the normal. The latter recorded rainfall of 0.4 mm, it said

The MeT department has predicted light rain or thundershowers at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab in the next 48 hours.
