MEA in touch with Angola mission to bring back mortal remains

The External Affairs Ministry today said it was in touch with the Indian Mission in Angola to bring back the mortal remains of an Indian employee whose employer has allegedly demanded Rs 16 lakh to send the body back home.

Surya Dev Yadav was seriously injured in an explosion while he was working in Best Angola Metal company on November 26 last year. He succumbed to his injuries on December 1.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said government was in touch with Indian Mission in Angola to ensure return of mortal remains of Yadav.

The victim's family members have written a letter to the President, Prime Minister, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and the District Magistrate (DM) seeking their intervention into the matter.
 

The company has allegedly demanded Rs 16 lakh from the family of the deceased.
