The opposition party in Punjab, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), today described the "mega" job fair, organised by the Congress government, as a "mega fraud".
The party claimed that applicants had been denied government jobs and instead were handed over offer letters of private companies which they were already getting under regular placement drives held by technical institutions.
In a statement here, former minister and SAD general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia said it was unfortunate that a "bogus" programme had been given the nomenclature of 'Rozgar Mela' and was being touted as fulfillment of the 'Ghar Ghar Naukari' promise made by the Congress party prior to the assembly elections.

Majithia alleged the Congress government had not gone in for any recruitment and had not even filled vacant posts in government departments.
Earlier in the day, as many as 27,000 appointment letters, including 3,000 for government posts, were given to unemployed youths at the job fair at Mohali by the state government.
