Meira Kumar to lead Indian delegation at Commonwealth meet

The Indian delegation comprises Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman P J Kurien, Sumitra Mahajan, Pinaki Misra, Dip Gogoi, Kaptan Singh Solanki (all MPs) and Secretary-General of Lok Sabha T K Viswanathan.

The Conference will also be attended by one delegate each from the 30 state legislatures of India.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference brings together over 600 parliamentarians and parliamentary staff from 175 Commonwealth parliaments and legislatures to debate on important political, parliamentary and current issues.

The theme of the conference is 'Ensuring a Relevant Commonwealth for the Future'.

The General Assembly of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association will be held on Friday which will be attended by all the delegates.

 

The Lok Sabha Speaker is scheduled to deliver the lead speech on the 'Engaging Political Parties to Improve Gender
