Members of Baiga tribe get habitat lease deeds

As many as 272 members of the protected scheduled tribe 'Baiga' were given habitat lease deeds (patta) of government lands, located at various places in the district, today.

Minister of State for Health Sharad Jain handed over 272 lease deeds to members of Baiga tribe at Gaurakanhari village of Samnapur tehsil at a function, District Collector Chhavi Bhardwaj said.

This was for the first time in the country that Baigas got habitat lease deeds in such a large number, the Collector said.
