Mentha oil futures fall 1.14 pc on low demand

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Mentha prices eased by 1.14 per cent to Rs 1,094 per kg in futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions, driven by sluggish demand from consuming industries at the spot market.

Ample stocks position on higher supplies from producing regions too influenced mentha prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for delivery this month eased by Rs 12.70, or 1.14 per cent, to Rs 1,094 per kg, in a business turnover of 755 lots.

On similar lines, the oil for delivery in September traded lower by Rs 11.70, or 1.04 per cent, to Rs 1,108 per kg in 154 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants due to subdued demand from consuming industries in the spot market against ample stocks position on higher supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly led to the decline in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
