Mentha oil prices softened by 0.30 per cent to Rs 1,182 per kg in futures market today as speculators trimmed their positions amid sluggish demand in the spot market.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in October declined by Rs 3.60, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 1,182 per kg in business turnover of 103 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in September traded lower by Rs 3.10, or 0.26 per cent to Rs 1,169.90 per kg in 22 lots.
Analysts said cutting down of positions by participants on the back of fall in demand from consuming industries in the physical market against ample stock position on increased supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly helped mentha oil prices to trade lower at futures trade.
