Mercury registered a sharp fall in Haryana and Punjab after light rains lashed parts of the two states for the third consecutive day today.
According to MeT office, the temperature dropped by up to nine notches in the region giving much needed respite to people from the hot weather conditions.
Chandigarh, which received light showers earlier in the day, had a pleasant day at 31.7 degrees Celsius, seven notches below normal, the MeT office said.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 32 degrees C, down eight notches while Hisar's maximum settled at 34 degrees C, eight notches below normal.
Bhiwani at 33.8 degrees C was cooler by six degrees than normal and Karnal recorded a high of 33 degrees C, seven notches down.
Amritsar in Punjab was cooler by nine notches than normal recording a maximum of 31.2 degrees C.
Ludhiana registered a high of 34.1 degrees C, down six degrees while Patiala's maximum settled at 33.4 degrees C, seven notches below normal.
MeT office, in a forecast, said light to moderate rains or thundershowers may occur at few places in the two states during the next 24 hours.
