Mercury shoots to 42.6 deg Celsius in Delhi

Delhiites continued to reel under scorching heat today, with the maximum temperature settling at 42.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.

At Palam Observatory, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44.4 degrees.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.4 degrees, two notches above the normal, said a Met Department official.

The humidity level in the air oscillated between 23 per cent and 56 per cent.

In what may come as a relief, the weather department has predicted overcast conditions along with the possibility of thunderstorm and dust storm tomorrow.

"The skies will be partly cloudy. There is a likelihood of dust storm/thunder storm towards the evening/night in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 43 degree Celsius and 27 degree Celsius," the official said.
 

Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42.3 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature had settled at 27 degrees.
