Militants opened fire at a BSF convoy killing a constable and injuring two others on the outskirts of the city today, the second attack on security personnel in as many weeks.
The ultras ambushed the personnel belonging to 8th Battalion near Chanapora bridge this morning, resulting in injuries to three constables, police said.
The personnel were admitted to 92 Base Hospital of the Army at Badamibagh cantonment, where constable Kalita succumbed to injures as a bullet had pierced through his ear into his head.

The condition of the two other jawans -- Hem Singh and Saikia -- was stated to be stable, they said.
Two empty cartridges were recovered from the site.
In the first major strike in the city in three years, Lashkar-e-Toiba militants, disguised as cricketers, had stormed a CRPF camp here in a 'fidayeen' (suicide) attack killing five of its personnel on March 13.
Two militants were killed in retaliatory action, while police arrested four persons including a Pakistani national in the course of investigations into the attack.
