Minister asks for third party audit of tree plantations

Delhi Environment Minister Imran Hussain today asked all concerned agencies including municipal corporations, PWD, DDA to get third party audit on tree plantation and their survival rate through independent bodies within a month.

Hussain reviewed the performance of all green agencies across Delhi to strictly check the status of target of plantation of 10 lakh saplings in the national capital during the current year 2016-17 to check air pollution.

In meeting, it was informed by agencies concerned that they have so far completed plantation of 8.4 lakh saplings.

Director, New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) informed that third party audit of the plantation in its areas in previous year was conducted by the Indian Agriculture Research Institute, Pusa Road which showed 60 per cent survival of saplings.
 

Minister said that all agencies should furnish the data on the survival rate and health of the plantations through third party audit within one month.
