A minor girl who had gone missing from Khurd town since April 27 was rescued from Meerut, after she was allegedly lured away by a man, police said today.

The minor girl was found on Friday, accompanied by a 27-year-old man, identified as Pramod Kumar, they said.

Pramod was produced before a local court yesterday, from where he was sent to a judicial custody, police said.

On April 27, the girl had gone to Khurd town with her maternal uncle and was later allegedly lured away and induced by the accused, on the "promise of a marriage".

A complaint in this regard was then lodged by the girl's maternal uncle at Surajgarh police station in the district.

The accused was booked under section 366 of IPC for kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel her for marriage, the police said.
