Having "succeeded in foreign policy," Prime Minister Narendra Modi should now pay more attention to the domestic affairs, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Baijayant Panda said today.
"I think he needs to engage more on domestic policy now that he has succeeded on foreign policy," Panda said, replying to a question at an event organised at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) here.
"When it comes to governance, like many people, I was surprised that his special focus was foreign policy... And he has done extremely good job and has succeeded exceedingly well," Panda said.

He said several policies the NDA government was rolling out now should have come earlier as he hinted that the delay was due to lack of the Centre's focus on policy on domestic front.
"Many of the red-tape removing schemes announced in this budget should have been announced one budget ago. Some six months ago there was announcement regarding relaxation of FDI norms on many sectors which could have happened a little earlier," the Kendrapara MP said.
"I think there are dozens, indeed hundreds of small incremental things that can be done slowly... Some of them have been done, many more need to be done and I think that should be the focus today," Panda said.
