Mother House celebrates canonisation of Mother Teresa

Press Trust of India Kolkata
With loud rounds of applause, prayers and special mass, hundreds of faithful including a large number of foreigners, today celebrated the canonisation of Mother Teresa.

At Mother House, headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, three large screens were put up where hundreds of nuns and Teresa followers gathered to watch the ceremony broadcast live.

Another screen was also put up outside the quarters for general public.

Since morning the House was kept open for public as visitors came throughout the day to pay their respects to the late Roman Catholic nun at her tomb.

When she was declared Saint by Pope Francis in Vatican, nuns and visitors erupted in joy with a loud round of applause and cheering for the 'Blessed Teresa of Calcutta'.

In the morning there was special mass at 6 am to celebrate the day.

Nuns decorated the House with a large portrait of Teresa hanging from the wall above the screen.

One wall decoration read, "Saint Teresa of Calcutta Pray for Us".
