Mother-son killed, daughter injured in accident

A mother and her son were killed while the daughter was seriously injured when a truck hit them at a trisection today in Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh, leading to protests by locals, police said.

Geeta Devi (30) and her 6-year-old son Hemant were waiting for a transport to go home when they were hit by a truck killing them on the spot, they said.

Devi's daughter was injured in the accident and was rushed to a hospital, police said, adding, the locals nabbed the truck driver and sat on a strike on NH-30 protesting against the accident.

The driver has been arrested and a case has been registered against him, police added.
