The Madhya Pradesh High Court directed the Special Task Force (STF) today to proceed against a "high-ranking dignitary" for his alleged involvement in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination (MPPEB) scam.
A division bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, comprising Chief Justice A M Khanvilkar and Justice Alok Aradhe, passed the order after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) monitoring the STF investigation into the scam, submitted two sealed envelopes in the court.
The first envelope contained the name of a "high-ranking dignitary", while the second envelope contained the status report of the STF investigation into the MPPEB scam, Additional Advocate General Purushaindra Kaurav told PTI.

"The STF is free to proceed against the high-ranking dignitary, the bench observed," Kaurav said.
The court has fixed the next date of hearing on February 23.
The HC directive comes at a time when MP Governor Ram Naresh Yadav's son Shailesh's name cropped up in a supplementary charge sheet on the MPPEB scam filed recently in a Bhopal court.
The opposition Congress has demanded the Governor's resignation over his son alleged involvement in the scam. Congress has even boycotted the customary address of government on the opening day of the budget session of the Assembly on February 18, in protest.
Former MP Minister Laxmikant Sharma and other powerful persons are already in judicial custody over their alleged involvement in the MPPEB scam.
