MPCC today demanded that the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) should conduct an inquiry into the state Irrigation Minister Girish Mahajan's claim of being offered Rs 100 crore as bribe by certain contractors.

Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesman Sachin Sawant met ACB director Pravin Dixit this afternoon and submitted a letter in this regard.

"Prima facie, it is a serious offence. No official complaint has been lodged by the minister or his office although many days have passed," Sawant said.

"It appears that the minister intentionally wants to suppress facts to protect certain persons. An offence has taken

place violating section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act as well as the Indian Penal Code," the Congress office-bearer added.

Sawant requested Dixit to take note of these facts and conduct an inquiry to prosecute the offenders.
