Music, which eclipses all barriers, needs to be blessed by the public for its survival, eminent flutist Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia says.
"Nothing can be more sublime than 'sur'. It purifies the soul, it bridges barriers and unites mind," the classical maestro said after being felicitated here last night.
"But any art needs people's patronage. Music needs to be blessed by the people," Chaurasia said after being felicitated by West Bengal Higher Education minister Bratya Basu.

A Film Division documentary 'Bansuri Guru', directed by Rajeev Chaurasia, spanning the life and work of the music doyen was also screened on the occasion, held at the behest of 'The Stadel'.
"I feel humbled to witness people's love and affection," the veteran flutist said.
