Mustard seed prices on Wednesday dropped by Rs 46 to Rs 4,066 per quintal in futures trade as participants reduced their holdings on sluggish demand.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, mustard seed contracts for April delivery fell by Rs 46, or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 4,066 per quintal in a business turnover of 13,840 lots.

Mustard seed contracts for delivery in May declined by Rs 44, or 1.08 per cent, to Rs 4,013 per quintal in a business turnover of 16,310 lots.

Marketmen said offloading of positions by participants following a weak trend in spot market mainly led to fall in mustard seed prices.
