National cycling coach Ruma Chatterjee dies in road accident

India's cycling coach Ruma Chatterjee was today killed in a road accident near Nalgadha village on Noida Expressway.

51-year-old Chatterjee was giving training to over 20 junior team members on the expressway and was following them on a motorcycle when she was hit by a speeding car from behind, police said.

The chief coach of Cycling Federation of India was rushed to Kailash hospital where she died during treatment.

Car driver fled from the spot leaving the vehicle behind.

Assistant coach Bhim Singh Dhaiya later lodged complaint with the police.

Chatterjee, a Kolkata resident, was attending national camp ahead of the Indian team's visit to Switzerland.
