A suspected smuggler from Nepal, carrying a Rs 50,000 award on his head offered by the NIA, was today arrested from a village in Bihar's East Champaran district, the police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Islampur village and arrested Farmanullah Ansari, an active member of a gang involved in the smuggling of counterfeit currency notes and contraband across the porous Indo-Nepal border, SP Jitendra Rana told reporters.
Ansari was a native of Hariharpur village in Nepal's Bara district, he said.

Rana said that the police and security agencies were interrogating the arresed. The NIA has been informed about Ansari's arrest.
The SP said that Ansari's arrest followed arrest of Abi Mohammad, a kingpin of a smugging gang from Sikta area in West Champaran district recently.
