NHPC board to consider raising Rs 2,250 cr via corporate bonds

State-run NHPC Ltd today said its board next week will consider the proposal of raising up to Rs 2,250 crore through issuance of corporate bonds on private placement basis.

"The board of directors of the company in its meeting scheduled to be held on November 18, 2016, will consider the proposal for raising of Rs 2,250 crore through issuance of 'V' series corporate bonds on private placement basis," NHPC Ltd said in a filing to BSE.

The proposed issue is out of Rs 4,500 crore already approved by the shareholders in the annual general meeting held in September.

NHPC is into hydropower generation business. Since incorporated, it has executed 20 projects with an installed capacity of 6,507 MW on ownership basis including projects executed by NHDC Ltd, a subsidiary company of NHPC, according to its website.
 

NHPC has also executed five projects with an installed capacity of 89.25 MW on turnkey basis. Two of these projects have been commissioned in neighbouring countries -- Nepal and Bhutan.
