NHRM chief urges media to popularise mass immunisation mission

The mass media has an important role to play in popularising 'Mission Indradhanush', a special campaign to immunise children and pregnant women, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Director Faiz Ahmed Kidwai said here today.

"The media has an important role to play in popularising the special campaign under Mission Indradhanush launched to immunise children and pregnant women as well as dispel misinformation, if any," he said.

Kidwai was addressing reporters here before launching the fourth phase of 'Mission Indradhanush' from July 7.

He said that immunisation helps prevent many serious diseases but people are unable to benefit because of lack of awareness.
 

Kidwai appealed to the media that it should report any unfortunate incident with utmost care because wrong information could affect the overall campaign adversely.

UNICEF Madhya Pradesh's health specialist Vandana Bhatia said that immunisation is the right of each and every child and shared details of steps being taken by the UNICEF and other partners to increasing Mission Indradhanush's visibility on the ground.
