Noida Traffic Police today launched a new e-challan system, whereby trained cops will keep an eye on any violators through hand-held cameras and penalties would be issued later to them through e-mails.
Incidentally, the first violator turned to be a policeman only, who was found driving his bike "without a helmet".
"Traffic cops will be located on those locations where traffic violations are rampant. Cops equipped with cameras will capture photos of violators and submit them to Traffic Enforcement Centre which in turn will retrieve details and mailing addresses of the violators, and send them challans at their respective e-mail addresses," SP (Traffic) R N Mishra said today.

"Enforcement officers will focus on violations like jumping traffic signal, reverse driving, using cell while driving, driving with out helmets (for two wheelers) and seat-belts (for four wheelers), triple riding on bikes, parking vehicles on roads or unauthorised parking, overloading of passengers etc," Mishra said.
"The first e-challan was issued to a cop who was found driving his bike without helmet when we choose to start with ourselves and selected a location near control room," Mishra said.
This initiative will help us to smoothen the traffic flow and enhance road safety through better enforcement and putting a check on traffic offenders.
"Moreover, it will reduce the unwanted interface between commuters and traffic police and check allegations of misbehaviour and corruption by the cops," he added.
