Notorious interstate criminal held

A notorious interstate criminal carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 and wanted in several cases across Delhi, and was arrested, police said today.

The accused -- Ansar alias Ansi -- was arrested on April 10 from Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj. He was absconding since 2015 and remained active in criminal activities, of Police (Special Cell) said in a statement.

During interrogation, the said, "He disclosed that on June 25, 2015 he along with his associates Mubarik alias Raju, Tarif, Muddassar, and had abducted a at gun point from Airport."

To lure the businessman, the accused had given an advertisement in newspapers for sale of scrap. On seeing the advertisement, the businessman, who is a of a reputed company, had come to to meet the prospective party to work out a deal.

When he came out from the airport, he was abducted at gun point. They demanded Rs 50 lakhs as ransom from the company owner, the said.

"In the meantime, when the Police raided Hathiya village, where they had held the hostage, the accused ran away from the spot," added.
