The indefinite sit-in by the central youth wing of Shurhozelie Liezietsu faction of ruling Naga Peoples Front against the inaction of the speaker in delivering ruling on three contentious issues continued for the third day today.
The agitators are demanding immediate ruling by Speaker Imtiwapang Aier disqualifying 36 NPF MLAs led by Chief Minister T R Zeliang, appointment of the NPF chief whip and the NPF Legislature Party leader.
The peaceful agitation will continue until the speaker delivered his judgement on the three issues, the youth wing reiterated.
The sit-in was today joined by NPF secretary general and Rajya Sabha member, K G Kenye who criticised Zeliang and party Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio for giving the Liezietsu faction seven days to reconcile with them.
He also accused Zeliang and Rio of involving themselves in anti-party activities and said the party would decided whether to expel or suspend them.
"They (Zeliang and Rio) have no authority to call the NPF party to reconcile with them. It is the NPF led by Shurhozelie which has all the authority and liberty to take back the 36 expelled and suspended NPF MLAs and Rios group if found fit for reconciliation," he claimed.
The Election Commission order of October 17 had not mentioned anything on reconciliation. It had directed the NPF to convene a general convention and let the active members of the party to decide on the present political crisis in it, he said.
Kenye also asked the speaker to adjudicate justice to all the cases pending in his office at the earliest.
After his swearing in in July, Zeliang had said that he would continue to remain NPF leader of the House. He is also the chief whip of NPF.
In the 60-member house, Zeliang has the support of 36 NPF legislators, seven Independents and four BJP MLAS. The Liezietsu camp has 11 legislators and one Independent. One seat is vacant.
