NZ earthquake body selects IIT-GN director as life member

Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar(IIT-GN) Director Sudhir K Jain has been selected as 'life member' of a New Zealand-based organisation dealing with technologies to reduce earthquake risks.

New Zealand Society for Earthquake Engineering (NZSEE) has inducted Jain as a life member for his contribution in the field of earthquake engineering in India and abroad, a statement from IIT-GN said.

The honour was conferred on him at the NZSEE 2013 Technical Conference in New Zealand on April 27.

Jain was the first Indian to be appointed as a life member of the society and one of the 25 current life members in the world, the statement said.
